This year the CPO course will be instructed once again by Steve Yeary, REHS, CPOI® of IDOH and Jason Ravenscroft, MPH, REHS, CHES, CPOI® of the Marion County Health Department. Topics covered will include pool water chemistry, water balance, essential calculations, filtration, disinfection, chemical feed and control, chemical testing, safety, maintenance, troubleshooting, spas and therapy pools, and Indiana’s regulatory requirements. Course schedule will be:
Day 1 - 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
Day 2 - 9:45 am to 6:15 pm
As part of the course, each participant will receive in advance a PHTA training manual to study in preparation, and to keep for reference. It is strongly recommended that new students read thru the CPO book before coming to class because there is an intense amount of information to attempt to learn in only two days of class.
The Environmental Public Health Division (IDOH), in cooperation with the Indiana Environmental Health Association (IEHA), will be offering these CPO® training/recertification opportunities essentially at cost for local health department staff (only). The course content will also be modified somewhat to better serve inspectors. Please understand that seats are limited and we cannot open the class to pool operators.
